Steady and Strong Course
2-week of Grounding Exploration for Children
Steady & Strong: Calm and Grounded 🌱
Children’s Grounding and Mindfulness Workshop in Derby | Ages 7–11
Runs for 2-weeks from the date selected when booking.
Helping children discover practical ways to feel steadier when big emotions arise.
When children feel worried, overwhelmed or caught up in big emotions, it can be difficult to know what might help in the moment. Grounding gives them ways to reconnect with their senses and surroundings, helping them notice what’s happening in their bodies and find something that feels manageable.
Across two fun, creative sessions, children will explore grounding and mindfulness through play, movement and sensory activities. We’ll introduce the ideas behind these coping skills in a child-friendly way, then give everyone opportunities to try different approaches and discover what works for them.
What will your child explore? Exploring ways to notice the present moment through movement, creativity and the senses, without needing to sit still or feel perfectly calm.
Understanding big feelings: Learning how worry and overwhelm can affect our bodies, and why grounding might help.
Sensory grounding: Trying activities such as the 5-4-3-2-1 technique, with flexibility for children who find particular sensory experiences uncomfortable.
Playful mindfulness: Creating a personal grounding kit: Making a mini kit to take home, with tools and ideas your child can continue exploring with you.
Every child is different, so we won’t expect one technique to work for everyone. The aim is to help children build a wider range of coping strategies they can draw on when they need them.
These sessions may be particularly helpful for children who experience anxiety, become overwhelmed by big feelings or would benefit from exploring practical ways to feel more grounded.
