Soothing Sleep: Calming Bedtime Worries
Helping children settle worries, calm their bodies and feel safer at bedtime
Bedtime is often when worries feel loudest. When the day becomes quiet, thoughts can loop, bodies can feel restless, and sleep can feel hard to reach.
Soothing Sleep is a gentle, 4-week small group designed to help children understand their worries and learn calming coping skills they can use at bedtime and beyond. Rather than trying to push worries away, we support children to feel more comfortable with their thoughts, calm their bodies, and build a sense of safety as they prepare for sleep.
Led by Freya, a wellbeing practitioner and yoga instructor, sessions blend guided visualisation, breathing, mindful movement and creative activities. Across the course, children will create their own personal pillowcase, adding symbols and reminders of the calming visualisations and techniques they practise together a comforting resource to take home and use at bedtime.
Sessions take place in our Cloud and Twilight rooms, carefully designed to feel calm, low-arousal and safe, making them ideal spaces for this type of work.
With just four spaces available, this small group allows time to gently explore each child’s individual worries and support them to practise and fine-tune the tools that work best for them.
